A side dish to perfectly pair with an All-Cuban menu or a hearty dish to enjoy as an entrée, save this classic Cuban recipe for your next party!

A Few Key Ingredients:

Iceberg Lettuce—crunchy and light, the iceberg lettuce is the fresh base of this dish.

Worcestershire Sauce—as the secret superstar ingredient for the 1905 salad dressing, Worcestershire sauce packs a powerful umami flavor punch on the palate.

Baked ham—savory, rich, and hearty, baked ham is the traditional protein choice for this Cuban-style salad.

Romano cheese—this salty, sharp, and tangy grated cheese adds to the complex flavors on the plate.

Green Spanish olives—green olives are slightly less ripe than their black counterparts, leading to a more bitter and surprising bite.

This classic salad is as rich with history as it is with flavor. With unique ingredients popular in Cuban cuisine, the 1905 salad can be paired with a variety of dishes, such as roasted chicken, Mediterranean-inspired seafood, or classic Italian pasta recipes. Bring it as a side to a potluck or make it for lunch—the choices are endless.

Packed full of sweet, spicy, tangy, and salty flavors, the key to serving this delicious salad is in the assembly. As it was originally prepared tableside in restaurants, doing the same for your friends and family will add the memorable flair your gathering deserves. Mixing the ingredients together at the last minute will keep the iceberg lettuce crisp and fresh.

We recommend tossing the 1905 salad in a large and rustic wood serving bowl. If you’re doubling the portion to serve a large guest list, dish out generous plates from the 16-inch ruffle bowl. For smaller portions, prepare the salad in the 13-inch ruffle wood bowl or 11-inch ruffle wood bowl. You can achieve a cohesive tabletop with the matching salad servers.

With that introduction, let’s dive into the mouthwatering recipe!
