Our Story

Coton Colors by Laura Johnson is a celebratory brand taking our cue from the lifestyle and interests of our Founding Artist and CEO, Laura Johnson and her family.

We value the memories made by recognizing the little moments in life as the big ones. Our thoughtful, functional, and original designs and inspirational content celebrate those little moments with style.

Our Roots

Founded in 1989 in Tallahassee, FL, Laura relied on her family from the start. The first Coton Colors products were inspired by her young daughters as well as her passion for creating, cooking, and entertaining – most often, items she wanted that did not exist in the marketplace. Family and friends saw those early designs and loved them, encouraging the artist to make more.

Our Designs

All Coton Colors products continue to be inspired by the ever-growing family's celebrations, traditions, travels, and milestones. They are artfully designed by our talented in-house design team, led by Laura and her daughter Kyle, who hand draws all patterns, selects unique color ranges, and creates exclusive shapes on which to apply the patterns.

The finished designs range from everyday and seasonal dishes and décor to home accessories, journals, and gift wrap. Available in over 3,000 stores worldwide, including our own experiential Flagship Stores, they are highly collectable and coveted pieces for many discerning hostesses, collectors, and gift-givers, inspiring all to live out Laura's motto -

“never miss an opportunity to celebrate every day."
