Old Cuban Cocktail

Say 'cheers’ with this delightful and refreshing cocktail that showcases the rich and smooth flavors of aged rum, balanced with the zing of lime and the herbal freshness of mint – that distinct flavor we all know and love. The addition of Champagne adds a festive touch, making it perfect for celebratory occasions or simply as a sophisticated drink to enjoy for happy hour. 
 
This classic cocktail combines the flavors of Cuba with elements of the traditional Mojito and Champagne cocktail. It was created in the early 2000s by renowned mixologist Audrey Saunders and has since gained popularity in cocktail bars around the world.

Old Cuban Cocktail  

Serves 1  
 
Ingredients  
1 ½ ounces aged rum 
¾ ounce lime juice 
¾ ounce simple syrup 
6 - 8 mint leaves  
2 dashes Angostura Bitters 
2 ounces sparkling wine or Champagne  
 
Lightly muddle mint in a cocktail shaker. Add all ingredients except the wine to the shaker with ice, shake well for 10 to 12 seconds and strain into a coupe or rocks glass. Top with wine and garnish with a mint leaf or sprig. Serve with pebble ice for an added twist.
