Pecan Pie Recipe

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and with it comes the promise of warm gatherings, gratitude, and of course, pie. Among the many pies found on the Johnson family Thanksgiving dessert table, one stands out because of its rich, buttery filling and crunchy, nutty topping that's {simply} irresistible: Pecan Pie.

The filling itself is a delightful blend of eggs, corn syrup, sugar, and vanilla extract, creating a sugar-sweet base for the star of the show: the pecans. Pecans are then artfully arranged on top of the filling, creating a perfect mix of flavor and texture. As the pie bakes to golden perfection, the pecans toast and caramelize, and the result is a dessert that’s simply delicious and oh-so-classic.

A Few Key Ingredients:

  • Chopped pecans – Pecans provide a rich, nutty bite and namesake of this pie.
  • Corn syrup – The primary source of sweetness in pecan pie, corn syrup also holds the pecans in place.  Use dark corn syrup for a richer taste and light corn syrup for a milder one.
  • Vanilla extract – Pure vanilla extract adds depth of taste to the pie, as well as a pleasant aroma.
