Headed Out for More Happy

The Get Happy train pulled back into the station after an AMAZING trip and lots of excitement at Hilltop House, Inscriptions and Froggie's Full Sun. Where did YOU Get Happy?522887_10151047351540940_731875194_n-ori

Following the Get Happy Parties, Marcie and I headed out for a "quick" trip to St. Johns for an Ornament Signing Party on the island of Newfoundland, Canada. On the flight to Toronto we were treated to an amazing view of Niagra Falls. After a quick rest we were ready for our signing and very FIRST Ornament Party at A Special Touch.

The owner, Sandra, is super smart and so engagingly friendly that we just couldn't resist this long trek up north. Sandra picked us up at 9am and gave us a quick car tour of St. Johns on our way to her shop.  We especially loved the view of Jellybean row where row houses all lined up are painted in different, bright colors.  A quaint river runs through town and attracted many people out for their morning run in the wet rainy weather {perfect weather to drive people to the mall where her shop was located}.

Her shop was decorated beautifully and was primed and ready for ornament shoppers! There were lots of new babies born in NL so we had the joy of meeting many of these sweet newbies while personalizing their very first Christmas ornaments.  It always gives me great pleasure to be a part of this milestone. People snapped up lots of different styles including Graduation, Our First Christmas, Greatest Grandaughter and Best Grandparents.

After the signing, Sandra and her husband Terry picked us up for an early dinner. The weather had cleared and it was blue skies and quite windy.  What great tour guides as just before dinner they took us up to Signal Hill.  Named this as located at the top of the hill was the tower where the very first transatlantic signal was made to England {in 1901}.  The road getting there was quite steep.  It ran along the battery which was lined with tiny houses on tall stilts. The view at the top was spectacular... 360 degrees around let us see the entire town of St Johns, the harbor and the beautiful coastline.

We enjoyed an amazing early dinner sitting right next to floor to ceiling windows with a perfect view of the harbor and narrows.  I enjoyed the best chowder I have ever had in my life.  Thick, creamy sauce covered giant lumps of fresh atlantic salmon, cod, shrimp and scallops.  Marcie had her very first cod fish which was the best fish I have ever tasted. During dinner us Florida girls were shocked when Terry blandly pointed out the window and said, "Look...snow!".  Yes, we scrambled for pictures like the tourists we obviously were in this town.

I don't know if it was the beautiful harborside setting, the interesting company, the food or all three combined but it was definitely one of the best meals I have ever eaten.  An early morning flight took us away from this delightful town and people. Goodbye Canada, hope to visit again soon!
