Grilled Pound Cake Recipe
After the cake has finished baking and is completely cooled, you simply heat up the grill or even a stovetop skillet and add slices to hot grill for only a few minutes... just enough for the signature grill marks to appear. Once complete, you can top with your preferred berries and whipped cream for the perfect evening treat. Currently strawberries are in season, so we plan on featuring these juicy favorites when we serve this yummy dessert at our next gathering!
A Few Key Ingredients:
-
Cream Cheese – A subtle yet noteworthy addition that cannot be skipped.
-
Berries – As mentioned above, we prefer to use strawberries, but you can also use blueberries or any favorite!
-
Whipped Cream – It's simple to make at home! Just combine heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in an electric mixer and beat until stiff peaks form.
Grilled Pound Cake
Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1⁄4 teaspoon baking soda
1⁄2 teaspoon salt
1 1⁄2 cups unsalted butter, room temperature
1 (8-ounce) package of cream cheese, room temperature
2 ¾ cups granulated white sugar
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
6 - large eggs, room temperature
whipped cream
preferred berries {we use strawberries}
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease a 10-inch bundt pan generously.
In a large bowl, sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together. Using an electric mixer, beat the butter and cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar gradually and beat on medium-high until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add the vanilla and beat until combined. Add each egg, one at a time, and mix well after each addition. Gently fold in flour mixture until combined. Do not overmix.
Pour batter evenly into pan, baking for 75 - 90 minutes. If the cake looks too brown towards the end, tent the pan with aluminum foil for the rest of the baking time. Once a toothpick comes out completely clean, your cake is done.
Remove cake from oven and allow to cool completely before removing it from the pan. Slice cake into even pieces. To grill, place cut side on hot grill grates for about four minutes – just enough to create grill marks and add flavor.
Top with homemade whipped cream and freshly cut berries.
Serve It Up
If you don’t have a bundt pan on-hand you can also prepare this dessert in a loaf pan instead – good thing we have just the one in mind! | |
Use a Signature White 9” Ruffle Bowl for tossing the cut strawberries in a bit of sugar for the perfect topping. |
